Medeiros: mr president uh on discussion so as we are now in a situation where the the president of the board of alderman has uh ascended if you will into the role of mayor and not acting but actual mayor I this is certainly the time has passed in which this would be a viable option this is an order just on discussion that I had submitted back in December 14th when we first had learned about the mayor's potential vacancy I do think it was a good thing for us to consider and perhaps the right thing for us to do however the clock is kind of ticked out on us just sort of of interest if if the this I said in committee and continue this is not an emergency situation thank goodness but instead a an exceptional situation and if we look back and if we had actually had for instance if the mayor had resigned when he first mentioned that he was planning that he may not stay would actually be looking at having a preliminary election in about a week so the time goes by awfully fast even sometimes faster than than we imagine but I do want to move to add a correspondence that we had had between Linda Lee Angelillo our elections administrator from December 18th 2017 I I thought this had been added at committee, or actually prior to committee, and then again during the committee deliberations, but I think it did not get added, and it is important that I think it does, as there's a little bit different information than there is special election information that's there, but this is actually a little bit different. So I would move to add this communication, dated December 18th, 2017, and I had read it back in the committee. I'll read it again aloud. I had asked for the cost of a special election. Linda Lee said, good morning, Monica. The average cost of an election is $28,000. City elections tend to run a little higher, 30 to 34, because we have to print ballots, program voting, and handicap machines with no reimbursement from the state. So I'd like to, I had provided, forwarded this to our clerk of committees and provided a printed copy, again, for as prior to the meeting. I would like to ask that that move, that that be added.
