Zwirko: all right so I'll be reading this resolution in honor of my friend Alderman Mayor Infurna before I begin and read this resolution I want to say so it was actually February of 2009 when I first met Gail and it is now February of 2018 so nine years later and here we are I'm a Ward 5 resident Gail has always been my alderman when I first moved to Melrose in 2006 until purchased a home in 2008 it has always been in Ward 5 so it's a great Ward thank you and Gail Gail has done a great job over the years representing that Ward so it's a great honor for me to be presenting this resolution to you and she was first Election in 1997 it was the same year I graduated from high school and look at

Zwirko: where we are so without with all that being said I'll read the resolution this is a resolution in honoring Gail Infurna as president of the Melrose Board of Aldermen for the year 2018 and for over 20 years of public service as Ward 5 aldermen for the city of Melrose whereas president Gail Infurna has served as Ward 5 alderman for over 20 years first Election in the fall of 1997 the Board of Aldermen congratulate president Gail Infurna for her years of dedicated service to city of Melrose and whereas president Infurna was a dedicated and loving caring wife to her late husband Cosmo with whom she raised two excellent and successful young men Michael and Mark both of their children attended and graduated from the public school system and whereas in her professional life president Infurna spent all of it in the health care field as a nurse helping and caring for others she worked in Melrose for many years first at Melrose Wakefield Hospital where she also served as a hospital trustee and later with epic senior health care and Wingate health care and whereas during her 20 years as alderman she served in a multitude of leadership positions and on many committees to aid Melrose she served as president of the board in 2006 and for part of 2018 she was a member of the school building committee until 2008 she served on the traffic Commission from 2014 to 2018 she served twice on the master plan advisory committee first from 2002 to 2004 and again from 2015 to 2017 whereas she greatly improved the ward 5 neighborhoods parks roadways and playgrounds always one to advocate for concrete sidewalks during construction projects she also oversaw the improvements to Pine Banks Park Bingham community playground Lincoln School expansion and restoration and new smart growth developments such as Oak Grove at Windsor and Jack flats and two stone place whereas the board shows its appreciation for her institutional knowledge both inside and outside of the aldermanic chamber as well as her leadership on municipal issues and therefore be it resolved that we members of the Board of Aldermen thanked president Infurna for her professionalism and friendship over the past two decades and therefore be it further resolved that on this fifth day of February in the year 2018 that this resolution signed by each of its members be spread upon the records of the Melrose Board of Aldermen and that a special copy thereof be prepared and presented to President Gail Infurna thank you this is the second time at

I look forward to working with all of you still in my new role. And to the people of Ward 5, I truly, really appreciate all the support that you have given me throughout the years. i never thought 20 years ago that it would be a run for 20 years you know so um i will miss being a ward alderman but i certainly look forward to being the mayor of melrose and working continuing with each of you and with all the people of melrose now thank you motion to place the order
