▶ 3:00:10 Manisha Bewtra: addressed this rule alderman Bewtra thank you I just wanted to update folks that the library strategic planning committee met again in this last meeting we spent some time fleshing out the mission and vision statements for the strategic plan and broke up into working groups um for the for the strategic planning document and in december we'll reconvene um where i will have the opportunity to present some some of the community demographics which is much in line with the earlier discussion this evening in terms of where where we are as a city in terms of our population and potentially um how that relates to our library needs and that process will be ongoing through the early spring thank you thank you alderman

▶ 3:01:02 Kate Lipper-Garabedian: deutro alderman Letter garabedian thank you president Zwirko just a few updates from the most recent um october 23rd meeting of the school committee um at that time um the minutes from the the October 16th executive session meeting were endorsed and the school committee has completed negotiations on two collective bargaining agreements one with the unit B school secretaries and one with the unit C paraprofessionals the secretaries contractors for three years it includes a 2% increase in each of the three years of the contract on compensation and then for the paraprofessionals at the two-year agreement again 2% increase in compensation for each of those two years at the October 23rd meeting the school committee had a really nice presentation and discussion of the metco program in which we participate it is a state program with which students from the Boston the city of Boston are able to attend schools in the region it was originally created as something of a voluntary desegregation plan and it's continue to this day it really can enrich the communities that were that help that have these students come it's a collegial partnership and it just essentially aligns with the core beliefs of our district the medical grant is that we receive is seven hundred and fifty eight thousand dollars to cover the cost of that program it includes the cost it covers fully the cost of transportation for the students as well as professional development workshops and staff costs the superintendent indicated that it probably contributes about two hundred and twenty thousand dollars to the operation of the district because it helps cover some of the the salaries and professional development we would other we would still be spending for and then the last update was with respect to enrollment updates but I think we heard plenty about that tonight I just would let the board members know in the public that of course on the public facing website with all of the agenda packets there is a memo from the superintendent related to enrollment and that's available for anyone to take a
