▶ 1:50 Speaker 1: give you a brief overview and then certainly i'm available for any questions uh this is a grant that we've been very fortunate to get over the past several years they start off with piecemeal and then they add to it probably the simplest way the grant is up to ten thousand dollars the first segment is going to be 24 50 which is available from october 15th through march 31st of 19. and then the second one will be sorry the font's very small the second campaign well the The first one's called the Winter Impaired Driving Focus. You'll see ads on TV and so on and so forth in the coming weeks. The next one will be Distracted Driving, April 1 through April 30th. And Occupation Protection, Clicker to Ticket will be May 1st through June 30th. And the last one from July 1 to September 30th will be Summer Impaired Driving Focus. And each of the, let's see, one, three, and four, we have to have at least one eight-hour shift

▶ 4:09 Kate Lipper-Garabedian: great I just also wanted to thank you for sharing with me the fiscal 18 annual report that you provided to the city and I know that you mentioned in it that there was a significant increase in motor vehicle related accidents. So there were a total of 535 reported and 347 led to reports being filed and investigated. And so I wonder if you have any sense of if these campaigns would address some of the types of accidents you've seen in the course of the last few years.

▶ 4:40 Speaker 2: The biggest one we're looking at right now is impaired driving where people are actually texting behind the wheel, driving with a knee or whatever it may be. that seems to be a big problem with our younger generation you can actually if you look long enough you can see someone trying to drive like this you can see a glow in the vehicle that's one of the things that the traffic division is

▶ 5:30 Kate Lipper-Garabedian: division and then I just think that the report was also helpful in just noting that in the Latin fiscal year 18 you issued 1544 traffic citations of those 79% were warnings yes and then there were the remainder were 158 civil 120 criminal and 26 led to arrests yes and is that was that a pretty typical year
