▶ 1:53:18 Speaker 1: thank you miss rosie thomas that brings us to the announcements of the chair and most of which will be taken up with the superintendent's end of cycle evaluation before i hand it over to the superintendent just to talk briefly about her progress report I JUST WANTED TO REMIND THE COMMITTEE NOT THAT IT NEEDS REMINDING THAT ACCORDING TO THE PROCESS THAT WE AGREED UPON THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS WOULD BE BRINGING TO TONIGHT'S MEETING THEIR COMPLETED EVALUATION FORMS AND THOSE WILL BE SUBMITTED TO ME FOR THE PURPOSE OF MY PREPARING AN EXECUTIVE SUMMARY TO BE PRESENTED PUBLICLY AT OUR JULY 30TH MEETING AND ALSO THAT copies of those uh completed evaluation forms would be provided to miss hogan for the public

▶ 1:54:10 Speaker 4: record that said madam superintendent okay so uh thank you mr o'connell so when i was thinking about this and i was writing my report and providing you with the artifacts um i was thinking what an unusual the year this was most years i'm highly focused on academics tax, instruction, developing curriculum, and this year we were focused on finances, finances and finances, whether it was the override, budget A and B, or contract negotiations. That was really my primary focus this year, and I am very fortunate to have the team we have. We never missed a beat. We kept the work going. You've seen it in my strategy overview reports. You heard it tonight from both Ms. White-Lambright, Dr. Adams, Ms. Greenwood. We kept the work going. Our personalized learning efforts are coming to fruition. We're at the implementation stage. We've done a lot of good work around scoring criteria, setting competencies, doing rubrics. We've done a lot of really deep training around universal design for learning. You hear it referenced constantly, and all that kept going while the major focus for both this committee and myself was the override and the two budgets. So I really need to thank my team for keeping their eye on what the real purpose of our jobs are, student achievement and learning and growth, while we fought the battle for the resources so that we can have those outcomes. So it really was a little bit of a strange year. So everything I gave you really centers on the override, the budget, and the contracts, and a little bit of instruction thrown in with the strategy overview there. In terms of going forward, I think probably the most valuable thing that we take out of this year, not only myself but all of you, is the fact that we had the discussions and forums that we had in order to help educate the public were were instrumental and I think they were a turning point for the history of this committee and if there is a way we can keep those efforts going and find mechanisms in which we continue to have those type of deep discussions and forums and question and answer sessions the committee really needs to find a way to rethink what you do on a bi-weekly basis in order to have that happen as the mayor was not with us tonight pointed out when she first began this journey for us this is something we're going to have to do every eight to ten years and I think it's important that we keep that level of public education no pun intended going with our
