▶ 21:05 Speaker 1: thank you for having me my name is stephanie nelson and i'm the co-founder of melrose kind a new non-profit here in town i've been told i have five minutes so let me get right to the point kindness that's it you don't need me to sit here and tell you that there are going to be disagreements the electricity around this current halloween topic is palpable and i can assure you

▶ 21:30 Speaker 1: that every person here every person watching has a valid opinion and an interesting perspective perhaps even a story that illustrates something that we don't know or we haven't covered but here's the thing without kindness that passion and that conviction it's lost

▶ 21:55 Speaker 1: November 20th is Melrose Random Acts of Kindness Day. This is our sixth annual citywide celebration. My partner and friend Mary Beth Darwin started this mission and I'm proud to be part of something that continues to evolve and thankfully has no ceiling. Now more than ever, and I mean even

▶ 22:18 Speaker 1: tonight today this week we could benefit from starting with kindness as i mentioned we have exciting news to announce we're an official non-profit we hope to fund kindness initiatives throughout the year pen pal projects between seniors and students adopt a sites more and so many more ideas we welcome ideas and collaborations so please reach out but i am getting ahead of myself. I'm here today to ask you to start to get excited about it. Think about ways you can participate. We've got many projects that need kindness warriors to own. Showing love to our police, showering appreciation to the fire department, the DPW, the post office, the hospital, and so many more. Do you want one of those projects? Please email us. We'll give you an assignment, something that will make you feel good. And before you naysayers and keyboard warriors are typing SMH, shaking my head, I ask you to just give kindness a try. Not sugary sweet lip service, but tangible actions done simply to make someone smile. You might be surprised at how good it makes you feel.
