▶ 49:31 Shawn M. MacMaster: Master the for us. Thank you. Mr. president. Just allow me a moment to pull up the resolution.

▶ 49:40 Shawn M. MacMaster: Hey, good evening. This is a resolution honoring city council or John and trim and cozy ward 1 at this time. Mr. present. I'll proceed by offering the resolution offered by city council or Sean and McMaster. Ward 5, whereas Councilor John Tramontozzi served as the Ward 1 Alderman and City Councilor for 16 consecutive years. Having been 1st elected on November 1st, 2005 and reelected 7 additional times. And whereas Councilor Tramontozzi served as President of the Board of Aldermen in the year 2012. And has chaired every standing committee of the Board of Aldermen and City Council at least once during his tenure. And whereas Council of Tramontozzi is retiring after 16 years of distinguished service to the City of Melrose as an Alderman and City Councilor. And whereas Council of Tramontozzi served as an effective representative to the residents of Ward 1. Helping to secure funding for the Franklin Street improvement project in the Warren Street Park. As well as advocating for responsible development, infrastructural improvements and fiscal prudency. And whereas the City Council recognizes that Council of Tremantosi's dedication to the community as a resident of Melrose has been for 26 years, and it extends well beyond his efforts in this chamber. And whereas Council of Tramontozzi has spent countless hours giving back to the community through his involvement in the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, the Melrose Sons of Italy, the Beethoven Society of Melrose, the Palminia Choral Society, the Friends of Middlesex Fells, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Rotary Club of Wakefield. And whereas Council of Tramontozzi has also supported numerous charitable causes in Melrose and is well known and admired for civic-mindedness and volunteerism. And whereas Councilor Tramontozzi as an attorney has devoted a considerable amount of time over the years to providing pro bono legal assistance to senior citizens, veterans, and to arts and cultural organizations. And whereas Councilor Tramontozzi is a loving husband of Martina Taylor Tramontozzi, to whom he has been married for 33 years, and the proud father of four intelligent and talented daughters, Tina, Anastasia, Laura, and Maria. And whereas we, the members of the City Council, do hereby express our sincere appreciation to Council of Tramontozzi for his contributions to the City of Melrose, both inside and outside of the Chamber, and in recognition thereof be it resolved that a copy of this resolution recognizing Council of Tramontozzi for his honorable and distinguished service to the City of Melrose be spread across the records of the City of Melrose and Melrose City Council on this 20th day of December Of the year 2021 and Mr. president on a more personal note, I would just like to say to counsel the chairman. Thank you. Thank you, John for your friendship for your mentorship. And for the example that you have set over the years, you have always been the consummate professional. A true gentleman and a real class act. I'm going to miss you my friend. Thank you.

▶ 53:09 Paul Brodeur: Thank you very much, Mr. President, and to the members of the Council for indulging me. I certainly want to take a moment to recognize the service of the three outgoing Councilors, Councilor McNaught, Councilor Thomas, and Councilor Tramontozzi. no matter how much time you have served it is a until you've done it no one else can quite understand uh what it involves what it takes the the time commitment and what um really kind of symbolizes all your service is is the commitment the commitment to the community that came really before your elected office and will i know will continue uh long on long into the future Uh, but in particular, I do want to focus, uh, some thoughts, uh, and to thank you to Council of Tramontozzi. Uh, John has been in the business for about for 16 years as Council McMaster, uh, pointed out, uh, almost as long as, as I have. And, um, you've been a great colleague, uh, on the council, uh, certainly during my time, uh, in the House of Representatives, being able to have your advice in council. and more so uh over the last two years uh as mayor there's really nothing that doesn't reflect you anywhere you go in the city obviously ward one but that reflects john's values his experience his incredible family that i suspect he will take some time to thank and if he doesn't then i don't know what to tell you about that i'm probably the only criticism i would have of john Uh, as a lawyer, and his father is his failure to talk, uh, his daughter out of going to law school. But she said he's trying to trade, um, down the South, but honestly, whether it be at the arts, the sports, the parks. The contributions within the council and without. Uh, John, I want to thank you, um, as someone who spent a lot of time in Ward 1 growing up. Certainly that that neighborhood and the city as a whole has benefited from. You and your family and everything you have done for the city and I, I look forward to the future. Uh, because you're not going anywhere my friend. And this is just the next step. So, and thank you. Very much to all 3 of the outgoing councils in particular to John. For his long service and, uh, Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all. and look forward to seeing you again in the new year thanks for the opportunity

▶ 56:01 Mark Garipay: uh i also want to thank councillor thomas and councillor mcnaught for their uh for the service over the last two years um i know we were all from morals but i'll be honest i really did not know councillor thomas that well and really didn't know councillor mcnaught so it was um it was great uh building a relationship with them and getting to know them and work in and moving the city forward um i'd also like to thank counselor tramitosi for his uh dedication to the residents of ward one and uh in the city of melrose um i'm not most people can't truly understand the amount of time that it takes counselors to prepare for for meetings return calls emails advocating for the residents in which we represent but we all do it because we love the city we love helping people council of tramitos he's done it longer than longer than anyone he's one of the longest standing city council as board of aldermen in the history of our city he's been involved in in many many projects um in this community in ward one uh after the after the flooding back in the mid-2000s, Melrose Towers, Warren Street Park, the redevelopment of the Highland Business District. He's been involved in all those projects. And as a resident of Melrose, I want to say thank you. 16 years is a long time. But as a colleague, I truly hope at the end of my tenure on the City Council that I can take a step back and and think that I helped as many people as you have in this community and it made such an impact on the community so personally I want to thank you for your service to this community uh the community owes you uh or is indebted to you for all your service and everything you've been able to accomplish so it's personally I just wanted to say that thank you

I'll take a quick brief moment of personal privilege and echo my colleagues and thank you for your service and your sacrifice to this city. Make an emphasis on sacrifice because we do sacrifice a tremendous amount of time away from our families, you know, sitting in the horseshoe for you back in the day, but on the screen to in present day so we thank you the city thanks you um i do believe that something was dropped off in your house today if you have that nearby if you can open that up

Tramontozzi: well yes uh well thank you mr president and many thanks to all of my good friends here on the council uh mayor broder thank you for those kind words and my good friend uh councillor McMaster, thank you so much for sponsoring this resolution and it's been an honor and pleasure and privilege to know all of you on this council, past councils, the board of aldermen when it was then uh and uh and to all the residents of this uh fine wonderful community city that we uh all live in uh it has been my honor and pleasure over the years i want to especially thank my wife martina and my four daughters for putting up with all those nights uh our meetings uh all those days and evenings that I was out and about the city, walking the ward and attending meetings and visiting with residents of not only Ward 1, but the entire city. And I want to thank them tremendously for all those years that they stood by me and were there helping me to get through this all. Again, thank you all on the council for your kind words. I consider you all my friend and friends, and I did receive something that was delivered to me. I haven't quite looked at it yet, but I want to just share it with everyone if I could. It looks like it's a map of Melrose, the ward boundaries that was adopted by the board of back then it was the board of selectmen in the year 1899. I believe board one is not it looks a lot different than it was in 1899 in terms of the wards and precincts but if I can just take a quick look probably where I currently We live in the same area. Franklin Street is still part of Ward 1, and it is. But the city has changed over the years. This is beautiful. I have a wonderful place to hang it. I want to thank everyone on the council for their contribution to this wonderful map. You can see it has age 1899. This is wonderful. I appreciate it.

This is a great community as, as the mayor said, I'm not going anywhere. I'm still going to be around and I welcome anybody. And everybody wants to call on me for any reason for some guidance or some advice. I'm happy to do some of my offices in the city at my home. Call me anytime. Well, within reason, of course. Not in the middle of the night, but anyways, thank you again. Appreciate it. And Sean, thanks again for this wonderful surprise resolution. Appreciate it.
