▶ 51:00 Jen Grigoraitis: thank you very much thank you um the final item on our agenda tonight is info 2022-5 multiple member appointed body information item 9615 um and i will turn the um this over to vice chair Migliorelli who's one of the sponsors along with me

▶ 51:21 Leila Migliorelli: thank you madam chairwoman um the background for filing this request is pretty clearly outlined in the um ordinance the order attached to the agenda but just to kind of briefly go over with everyone um you know the intent of this order is that many of these multi-member bodies that we have serving the city have a capacity influence city-wide policy um and some are you know influential in their regulatory powers as well um and going beyond the powers of the city council in the mayor's office so given this information about the bodies um needs to be transparent and easily accessible um to both the council and our role as the approving authority for these boards and commissions as well as the public so that they're able to so that we're all able to hold these boards and commissions accountable for the important work that they're doing on behalf of our community when residents think about how they can get involved in city affairs um many of them just assume there's only options of running for running for office or serving in the city you you as an employee, but there's great opportunities to be a part of the public process by serving on public boards and commissions. So, having a listing online that gives an update of when there are vacancies and multi member bodies can give people the opportunity to find out where they can volunteer their time and reach out to apply. And I just wanted to also take the moment to, um, thank the city clerk's office and, um, clerk of committees for doing their work along with the, um, city solicitor to help, um, bolster the roles of boards and commissions, um, through some training opportunities. And through, I think some research on, um, how we could potentially list, uh, boards and commissions on our website. I know there's other municipalities that are already doing this. So, it seems like we have some good models to follow. But since this is a request for information, I'd like to motion to hold this in committee until the city clerk and the administration have had the time to collect the information we outlined in the order and which we requested by March. 1st. So, I can make that motion now and, you know, obviously on discussion, but just wanted to be clear with the intention and next steps.
