▶ 8:19 Speaker 4: all right miss pickett broder can you hear us yes can you hear me we can the floor is yours thank you very much for consideration and taking this out of order i do appreciate it um the city of melrose and the soldiers sailors um memorial building board of trustees and the maryland's historical commission applied for a grant that's called the veterans heritage grant that the SHROB organization put out. We submitted our application along with letters and a heartfelt thing to all the following people, Mayor Broda, the Board of Trustees, the Historical Commission, the Miles Veterans Advisory Board, Senator Jason Lewis, and Representative Kate Lipigarabedian, and to my surprise, we got it. To explain a little bit what this is going to be used for is there are artifacts that we believe of historic significance in Memorial Hall. For example, there's a case that contains flags and uniforms from the Civil War. If you look in the GAR room, there's all the paintings around the room. There are some prints up there, but I also have some prints in storage along with some books. So what we'd like to do is hire a professional historian and most importantly archivist to examine all the articles determine their historical significance appraise them and more importantly if they need to be restored tell us how to restore them and then how to preserve them for future reference the other half of this it's called the we're calling it this um heritage project memorial hall heritage civil war heritage project is to research we We believe that there are some soldiers that are not recognized on the plaques in the GAR room and the reason being is because they weren't deployed, living in Melrose at the time of the deployment to the Civil War. So, we want to hire a historian to do some research to determine if there are any other Civil War soldiers that moved to Melrose after the war and had a significant impact in the community. If there are, how we can properly recognize them. Um, this project is a matching funds grant, and the board of trustees has already voted to match the award that we received. Um, so there is no financial significant impact to the city budget. It will all come from the restoration fund that, um, the board of trustees overseas. So, with this, I intend to stop this, I'm writing right now, the scope of work, and we intend to start this project right away within the next few weeks. I'll get the bits out and start looking for someone to do the project. So, the project can have a timeframe, say, from April through the summer to give the historian enough time to look at all the artifacts and properly do the plan and everything should be complete in the report submitted by the end of the year. So, I don't know if you have any questions for me.
