I'd like to see a rendering of what we are going to see from our backyard, because as I read this plan, they're going to clear cut a field of ancient trees that are holding up the ground, and maybe they're going to remove all of the earth from that, uh, site, which I'm not sure exactly how they're planning to do that without coming through our site, which doesn't have vehicle access to the backyard there. But, uh, that'll be an interesting process. Um, and then essentially stack holding reservoirs, creating what will basically look like the underside of Hoover Dam looming over the back of our house. Um, we've expressed before some deep concerns about storm water drainage in particular, and especially with clear cutting the trees, the possibility for mudslides, massive erosion, and other chaotic or ca catastrophic events behind our house. Uh, the water that comes into our fieldstone foundation is already a problem. Um, this will create much more of a problem, even if it is seeping in over time, because as Mr. Roach had pointed out, uh, the water can't seep into the ground because there's ledge. Um, as far as the traffic concerns, you know, I know that there, I wanted to make a comment that, uh, the comment about it being the worst case scenario and being speculative while true, the time that the ti the, that the fire danger is highest is around the holidays when it's most likely to have extra cars parked on the street. So the time that creates the low most fire danger also creates the most issue for firetruck. Getting onto that, that, uh, that turnaround. Um, I also wanna point out that the original plan here was for six or seven houses on that site, not 28. And that the developer voluntarily withdrew and decided to go through the 40 B process, uh, which created a much, much, much larger scale project here that just isn't appropriate for the site at all. And I have deep concerns when I hear a geotechnical analyst saying things like, we're getting very creative with how we manage the site, uh, as a, as a downhill abut, um, that is a concern directly. Um, the blasting is a concern. I thought that originally it had moved over to drilling, uh, but now apparently we're back to heavy blasting and hilltop removal, uh, that has a lot of opportunities to do some serious damage to fieldstone foundations and houses that literally cannot be replaced, even if insurance would cover it. Um, I would expect, I mean, first of all, the sco the scope of the project is just way, way, way too big. Uh, it, it seems like it's creating a whole host of dangers for the people abutting it, and especially the people downhill of the, of the project. Um, I will also say that no matter how this amendment lands, I plan on supporting it in November and out of committee with recommendation. Um, with that being said, I don't plan on voting on the, for the amendment because I do have some reservations on the 130 million version of this project. Um, unlike the Public Safety Building Committee, we are not limited in scope when making big decisions. So with the structural deficit and infrastructure priorities likely to surface in the near future, I anticipate and likely will support future initiatives that will seek to raise revenue for investments and our needs. And each tax increase ends up being an affordable, an affordability issue for many of our residents. And I think it will be continue to be with future requests, and I think we need to make adjustments and scale down where possible. Um, I think it best to put forward the project as proposed and potentially revisit the East Side Fire Station in the near future. That could be a standalone debt exclusion or improvements could be funded through smaller capital projects. Um, but with that being said, there are definitely quality life of life issues there, and I understand that and we should address those, um, in some manner with urgency. Um, to be clear, you know, the proposal before us either one, is the largest one-time investment in public safety in Melrose in at least a hundred years. I think. Um, and it's previously mentioned, I wholeheartedly support either, either proposal in November because I believe in the urgency of these needs. But I would prefer, prefer the scaled down proposal no matter what happens, um, with this amendment. The likely next steps for this propo, for the proponents of the project are to get together and discuss with their friends and neighbors, you know, the importance of investing in public safety.
